Thieves Guild Quest: No Stone Unturned

Thieves Guild Quest: No Stone Unturned
Prerequisites: None
Intersecting Quests: Dark Brotherhood Quest: With Friends Like These, Dark Brotherhood Quest: Destroy the Dark Brotherhood!, Main Quest: Diplomatic Immunity, Thieves Guild City Influence Quest: Silver Lining.
Reward: Perk: Prowler’s Profit (vastly increases chances of finding gems in dungeons), The crown is displayed on the shelf behind Mercer Frey’s desk.
A Crowning Achievement
During your adventures, you may stumble upon an odd-looking but possibly extremely valuable gemstone. This particular valuable stands out from the rest and is called an Unusual Gem, or the Stones of Barenziah. When you get a gem, the quest immediately starts. You are told to “Bring the gem to an appraiser.” Walking into RIften, you might see this scary guy who calls out to you (Maul I think?). He may or may not be in a biker gang. Either way, after talking to him, you are instructed to bring the gem to Vex, of the thieves guild. Ask her what the gem is worth and her response? Nothing! The gem is worth very little by itself and it usually collected as an oddity. The gem is only worthwhile when collected along with its’ 23 siblings and joined back into the Crown of Barenziah. After you find all the gems, Vex tells you that the crown itself (unjeweled, but whole) is in a place called Tolvald’s Cave, southwest of Riften. It’s infested with wild animals, Falmer, and Chaurus. Battle to Tolvald’s Crossing and move into a large, dead-end chamber. There’s a refuse pile at the end of the path that winds to the right, just after the waterfall; sort through the pile for the crown.
