Skyrim Tip #47 Civil War Counterparts
Have you thought about which Jarls are more fit
to rule than their civil war counterparts? Would you replace Jarl Igmund (in
Markarth) with Thongvor Silver-Blood? Or Jarl Balgruuf (of Whiterun) with
Vignar?
Like, I'd definitely replace Siddgeir with Dengeir in Falkreath --- Dengeir may be a bit paranoid, but he's had a lot more experience governing, and Siddgeir only cares about himself.
I'd also keep Laila Law-Giver in Riften ... she's a bit naive, but she's actually trying to help the people while Maven Black-Briar just wants to enrich herself and her friends.
I'd keep Igmund, too, because the Silver-Bloods are exploiting the people of the Reach to mine their silver. *And* they're deliberately inflaming the Forsworn/settler conflict for ... whatever their reasons are, I forget. Igmund's an occupier, too, from the Reach natives' point of view, but he seems less bad than the Silver-Bloods.
And I like Ulfric Stormcloak, but I'd still rather have Brunwulf Free-Winter as Jarl of Windhelm, as Ulfric couldn't give less of a crap about the Dark Elves and Argonians.
Don't really have an opinion about the relative merits of Idgrod vs. Sorli, or Skald vs. whoever replaces him, and I think Balgruuf and Vignar are both good rulers.
Totally agree about Siddgeir, Brunwulf, Igmund, and Balgruuf/Vignar. I personally dislike Thonar. He's like, a total jerk. He named his son "Thongvor," for Pete's sake. Igmund ignores the forsworn problem, but that's a lot better than aggravating it. Ulfric is totally using the war as an excuse to take over Skyrim. Skald is replaced by Brina, and she seems really nice. Skald is like, a cranky old guy who talks about fighting too much. I like Ingrod, but she seems sort of weird. And her son isn't exactly the best heir (with his mental condition). Ingrod's competition seems pretty close-minded, too. Laila Law-Giver is nice, true, but she's also like, useless. She's a post turtle. And she's selfish. Maven is openly selfish, but she's competent, too. She knows how to get stuff done. I feel like she's the one leading Riften, regardless of who sits in the Jarl chair.
I've thought about that for some of them.
